Friends,
I believe that music has a way of speaking to people. Even music without words has the ability to
touch people in ways that the most eloquent speeches can't. Because of that, I believe it is
important to share with everyone the reason behind my music and what I hope to accomplish with it.
If I were to approach you on the street and try to talk to you about your religion and ask you personal
questions about what happens after we die, you might jump back and say, "get lost!" However, if the same questions
were posed through music, you might not be so quick to turn away. I believe that music has a way of softening
people's hearts like no other "language" can. It is the one "language" that everyone can understand.
Music has the ability to communicate with people in deeper ways than we can describe through words alone.
The passion behind my music comes from something much deeper than the wells of human emotion.
I would like to share with you the impact that God has had on my life. My relationship with Him
has given me motivation to wake up every day and to make it through my daily struggles. It gives me great
peace knowing that I always have His hand helping me through everything I do. Without His guidance, I would wander
aimlessly and fearfully through every challenge I face.
I grew up in a family where we went to church
regularly, but yet I had no concept of
what it really meant to have a personal relationship with Christ. At the age of 15, I began to understand that there
was more to God, the Bible, and church than I had previously thought. I realized that I had a best friend there waiting
for me every minute of the day. I realized that God had the ability to give me strength beyond what I could have
imagined and with Him, I would no longer have to worry about
how to make it through the struggles I faced. Even though I had believed what Christ did for me at an early age,
I neglected to initiate a personal relationship with Him. Finally as a teenager, I began a relationship with Christ.
I asked Him to live in my heart, to forgive me of the things I had done wrong, and to be Lord of my life. I believed that
God sent Jesus Christ to die for me (1). I believed that I was a sinner and that there was nothing I could do to earn my
way into heaven (2). I believed that I deserved to be eternally seperated from God, but that God loves me so much
that He died a horrible death on the cross, shed His blood for my sins, and victoriously rose again paying
the price for me. I believed He loved me so much that he did all of this for me, for free - and that
there is nothing I did (or could ever do) to deserve that or repay Him (3-5).
Ever since I made that comittment to follow Him, my life has been radically changed. Most importantly,
I know for sure that there is a place in heaven waiting for me. I wake up everyday knowing that God loves me and
I am not afraid of what the day will bring. I trust Him and know He is in control of everything. He has given me
a sense of security that only He can give. I've learned that each day is a gift and He is faithful to provide
for all of my needs. I know that my purpose in life is to love Him and to share the gift He offers. I look forward
to spending eternity with Him in heaven.
In light of eternity, it doesn't matter how high we might climb on the
corporate ladder, how much money we have in the bank, how many friends we have, what size our house is, or even
what we look like. Not having to worry about those things allows me to live each day with confidence and peace.
Even though I make mistakes every day, I know that no matter how bad I mess up,
He'll be right there, ready to forgive me. His love for me is unconditional and His forgiveness is guaranteed.
His grace has no end.
I believe that God gives each of us special gifts that we are to use to glorify Him.
I feel that the time has come to use my gift of music for the Lord. I pray that He will use my music to
soften the hearts of those that listen to it. Please consider the impact that God has had on my life and
explore the information I've provided below. I encourage you to give an honest look on your own and I pray
that you too will find what I have found to be true. In this world of many religions,
I know it's confusing and difficult to distinguish between fictional and factual beliefs.
Please consider doing some research - read the Bible and some of the other books I've recommended below.
There have been many scholars who have set out to disprove Christianity, only to find that they couldn't. In turn,
they became strong believers themselves. What have you got to lose?
I thank you for reading and I will pray that your heart will be softened.
Regards,
DJ Segler
PS - If you have any questions, I'd be happy to do my best to answer them or refer you to
someone that could.
